You hear it as you pass by on your way to work, as you exit BART and as leave your local grocery store: “Get your Girl Scout cookies!” These little fundraisers and their moms seem to be just about everywhere luring you with boxes of Thin Mints, Samoas, Do-si-dos, and Trefoils.
This year, one troop took their cookie fundraising to a whole new level. Girl Scout Troop 61931 generously donated $500 from their cookie sales proceeds to LLS. Our Patient Services Program Manager, Lauren Wilkerson, MPH, MSW, and Development and Mission Director, Harriet Patterson, MPH, were honored to attend their Girl Scout meeting on January 28th, accept their check and talk about childhood leukemia. The 9 and 10 year-old scouts participated in a skit about leukemia and then created Valentine’s for Honorees fighting blood cancers as a way to help support them during treatment.
One Valentine read, “You may not know it but you are loved!”
Thank you Troop 61931 for demonstrating leadership and caring for others in your community! We are grateful for your support of our vision of a world without blood cancer.
