San Francisco has sailing fever!

It’s hard to ignore the buzz about the America’s Cup coming to the Bay Area these days. Last week there was a flurry of excitement as the super fast America’s Cup AC45 catamarans took to the Bay for a media event.  The conditions were challenging and there was even a wipeout! Four-time America’s Cup winner and LLS’s 2010 Leukemia Cup Regatta VIP speaker, Russell Coutts fell through the wing sail as his boat went head-over-heals and came to rest on its side. Thankfully no one was seriously injured.

Several of our Leukemia Cup Regatta Executive Committee members and staff were lucky enough to be present at last week’s press conference and chat with Coutts and the ORACLE crew.  The timing couldn’t be better as LLS is ramping up for its annual Leukemia Cup Regatta on October 1 & 2 at The San Francisco Yacht Club. This year’s Leukemia Cup is poised to raise more than $700,000 for blood cancer research and patient services!
